JCEC and ANJEC Present: Plastic Bag Bans & Single-Use Plastic Use in the Age of COVID-19

September 22 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Join the Jersey City Environmental Commission on September 22nd for a discussion with the Association of New Jersey Environmental Commissions (ANJEC) to discuss how to address the increased use of single-use plastic bag consumption during the pandemic. We will discuss the misinformation regarding the spread of the coronavirus on surfaces which has led to a spike in single-use plastic consumption, and we will discuss the mass accumulation of plastic waste while highlighting what solutions should be in place to remedy this problem.
During the discussion with ANJEC Plastic Pollution Project Director, Dini Checko, the short film, The Story of Plastic, will be presented. Afterward, we will host a panel discussion with elected officials, small businesses owners, and community leaders to discuss enforcement of Jersey City’s current Plastic Bag Ban and making amendments to the current plastic ban ordinance.
